ADESA Winnipeg Partners With Variety To Launch Bids for Kids Donate A Car Program    

ADESA Winnipeg is pleased to announce the successful launch of Variety’s Bids for Kids, a vehicle donation program in partnership with ADESA Winnipeg’s charity of choice, Variety, the Children’s Charity of Manitoba.   After over a year of work towards this goal, the first four weeks of Variety’s Bids for Kids have been a success and we hope it will serve as a blueprint for future ADESA-charity partnerships.

ADESA Winnipeg has been supporting Variety Manitoba for over twenty-five years and has raised in excess of $1 million for the charity’s children over the years.  Deciding we could do more, ADESA Winnipeg approached Variety in late 2011 regarding a partnership to solicit and sell donated vehicles on behalf of the charity.  With great excitement, ADESA Winnipeg and Variety Manitoba worked on the program, titled Variety’s Bids for Kids, over the next year.   The program was presented to Variety’s world conference in Dublin, Ireland in the spring of 2012 to great acclaim (The Presentation can be found here: http:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVDneP5MkUE).

 In late November 2012, after much work and dedication by ADESA Winnipeg, ADESA Canada Corporate and Variety, the Bids for Kids website went live (varietysbidsforkids.com), Variety began advertising the program via local media and the donations began rolling in.  The inaugural sale of Bids for Kids vehicles was on Dec 13^th, 2012, and as of January 8^th, 2013, ADESA Winnipeg has processed over a dozen vehicles and raised thousands for Variety in less than a month.   We also received our first classic car donation, as a running 1949 Packard was graciously donated to the program.   ADESA Winnipeg will be selling the Packard in March at a special evening sale open to the public.    

Part of the pitch for Bids for Kids was the international potential of the program.  Variety has locations, or ‘tents’, all around the world.  Winnipeg is very much a testing grounds for the program, and when successful here, both ADESA Winnipeg and Variety hope to roll out the Bids for Kids program to other locations throughout North America and around the world.
